NEW DELHI: COVID-19 has changed the way we look at jobs. It is not just about delivering value anymore but how employees are getting themselves ready for the next set of challenges that will emerge in the future. Industry leaders said that in the current times we need to have curated and personalised skilling of employees as the job world is changing dynamically at ETHRWorld Future Skills virtual summit.

With recent disruption in work culture and emergence of tech tools as a rescuer, Sanket Atal, MD, Intuit India emphasized on the need of skilling in the challenging time. “Managing every team member virtually is not a skill set everyone has, so we have to get trained quickly to be very productive and maintain company culture,” said Sanket.Moderated by Prakash Iyer, Founder, and CEO, Leadership Works, the panel witnessed insight by Abhilash Misra, CEO, NSE Academy. Highlighting the importance of skill development, he said,” the biggest question we ask is how to balance technical skill vs soft skills. The reason why upskilling, reskilling, and cross skilling is important is because the job world is changing dynamically.”

With increased digitization at workplaces, a focus on continuous and multigenerational upskilling and reskilling are deemed more important than ever.

"Fast pace changing business models, digitalization and rapid urbanization will change the business dynamically. In this scenario, you are expected to enter the uncharted area. And you do this with the help of your people and by identifying future skill set.” said Kamal Bali, President and Managing Director, Volvo Group India.
